New York, New York : Day 1

I'M BAAAAAACK! Yesterday afternoon I arrived home from what can only be described as one of the best weeks of my life - my long awaited holiday to New York City. It was love at 1st sight. The minute our taxi sped from JFK towards the beautiful skyline of Manhattan island I knew it was going to be a good one. I'm going to try and whittle my 600+ snaps down into a mini photo diary of the week. It may take a while, so bare with me. Here's day one...

The longest part of the day was the dreaded 7 hour flights from London to JFK (after getting from Aberdeen to London!), so I came prepared with a bit of reading material...
Despite the fact that Isabella's story made me bawl my eyes out on a plane full of people, it helped pass the time and I'd definitely recommend the book for an insight into her colourful world of fashion and mental illness. A must read.
We arrived at the Novotel, Times Square around 3pm and found our room, with its massive super comfy bed, on the top floor...

...with a pretty damn good view of Times Square.

In an attempt to beat the jet lag we ventured out for a wonder around Times Square. We soaked up the buzz in the area and looked up in awe at the sheer size of the buildings. And of course took a couple of classic yellow cab photos...

We then ended up at Hells Kitchen Flea Market, as recommended by the lovely Erika on Retro Flame.
I managed not to buy anything but spent an hour or so admiring the pretty jewellery stalls, vintage goods and designer bargains.

Yes, we did go to the other side of the world and eat at TGI Friday's.
After a cheeky burger and a couple of cocktails we gave up trying to stay awake and headed for bed. It was a relaxed and easy way to enjoy our 1st day in the Big Apple.

More tomorrow...
