Slowly but surely getting to the end of my New York diary. Sorry if I'm boring you by now, but thanks if you're still reading! On day 5 we jumped on the subway and headed to Brooklyn in the morning...
We made our way back to Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge. You get amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline from here, if you're ever in the area you must find time to do it!
I wore... Zara dress (bought in NYC) // H&M sandals // Religion bag // Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses
The bridge takes you into the Financial District of Manhattan, which we had a wonder around and saw Ground Zero. We didn't do any of the tours or anything as we were there to enjoy ourselves and I didn't want to become an emotional wreck.
Instead we made use of our metro card again (which you can just top up as you go by the way!) and found our way to Greenwich village. Where all the celebs live - including SJP! Here's me doing another Carrie impression...
We stopped at a Mexican restaurant just off Washington Square Park for enchiladas and frozen margharitas - they were ridiculously good! Then made our way to Bleecker Street for a bit of retail therapy.
When you're visiting New York do not just stay uptown in all the tourist spots! As much fun as Times Square can be, you have to venture downtown to get a feel of real New York life. Greenwich village has a trendy, relaxed style with hardly any hustle and bustle of tourists. There is shopping for everyone - designer boutiques, vintage and goodwill stores, guitar shops (which made Gordon happy!) and even cute little pet boutiques like Canine Styles. Where the "I heart NY" dog tees are not made big enough for Labradors :(
I treated myself to a bracelet and ($10!!) necklace in Marc by Marc Jacobs and then we headed back to Washington Square to chill by the fountain and do some people watching. If you're into hipster spotting this is the perfect place haha. Gordon and I have agreed that we'd book a hotel downtown next time we go to NYC. Our hotel in Times Square was great but we fell in love with Greenwich Village.
We headed back to the hotel just in time to watch the sun set and ended our evening with drinks and live music in one of the many Irish bars off broadway. Somebody please take me back...
