On January 1st we treated ourselves to a special New Year's Day dinner at the Eiffel Tower. We booked the opera+ menu (85 euros each) in advance at the 58 Tour Eiffel and e-mailed a request for a window seat with a view - they gave us a great little table with the Trocadero as our backdrop.
Warehouse feather skirt // New Look vest top // Carvela heels // Snake Serpent necklace (from Christmas Market)
The boys smartened up in shirts and ties, I wore my feather skirt for the 1st time and Malissa wore a stunning maxi dress.
We arrived at the restaurant on the 1st floor and were greeted with a glass of champagne and admired the view until our starters arrived. I had the "Seared duck foie gras with quince and barberry marmalade"...
My main was "Roast chicken supreme, creamy polenta with dried fruit, jus with preserved Menton lemon". The chicken was slightly pink in some areas, but this seems to be the norm in Paris, and the polenta was to die for! I'm drooling just thinking about it...
Gordon and I both had the rum baba for dessert. Emphasis should definitely be put on the rum part! It was ridiculously strong! Not the worst thing I've ever tasted, but definitely not the best...
I'd recommend the Jivara instead.
The Opera+ menu includes your 3 courses, glass of champagne, bottle of wine, water and tea/coffee. It was well worth the 85 euros for the high standard of cuisine, and excellent drinks washed down while looking out over the city from it's most famous landmark. If you're planning a trip to Paris any time soon, it's a must! The earlier you book, the more likely you are to be seated by the window. You can see all the reservations available and book here.
