Short suits are a trend that have been around for a while now. They're perfect for summer when you need to look smart/professional but it's far too bloody warm for trousers. However, I was inspired by Amy from The Little Magpie (see her bargain Warehouse short suit below) to come up with my own version, and style it for winter. Yes, you can wear shorts in the snow...
H&M blazer // New Look shorts // Zara tee // Primark tights // River Island boots // Oasis coat // Ginger Pickle necklace
I bought these shorts from New Look a while ago, with a voucher I got for my birthday. Usually I dislike shorts - I find most of them are too tight around my thighs. You know that awful bulge you get when you sit down in shorts? Hate that! And I don't even think I have particularly big thighs. Anyway, that's besides the point. The high waist of these shorts is elasticated so it fits nice and snug round my middle, then sort of flares out around the thighs. Perfect! I love the gold zip detail too. I chucked them on with a plain Zara tee, tights to keep out the chill and my black H&M blazer to create...Tada! My very own short suit. Seriously, why has Vogue not snapped me up yet!?
Here's a little inspiration from some gorgeous ladies, just to remind you why you have to try this trend!
Style Icons/Musicians/Models/Hipsters/All round cool girls... Alexa Chung // Florence Welch // Solange Knowles // Poppy Delevigne
I also wore this stunning wooden butterfly necklace made by Ladybird Likes, which my sister gave me for Christmas. It's from Ginger Pickle - this particular one is unavailable but you can see other colours/variations by clicking here.
