Last weekend I easy jetted my way down to the UK capital with one of my favourite people - my sister. My main reason for wanting to go at this time of year was to catch the Isabella Blow exhibition at Somerset House before it ends in March, hence the reason we avoided fashion week/weekend as I imagine the display is currently mobbed with budding fashionistas.
Both of us have already done the main touristy things in London which meant we were able to take time to wonder and appreciate the city. We admired the new year decorations in China town, got lost in Covent Garden and strolled through some of my favourite neighbourhoods. I love the perfectly painted white houses of the Chelsea/Kensington area.
We even managed to see a couple of shows over the weekend. Laura had booked Once in advance and I'm so glad she did. I'd never heard of it before but was intrigued when she told me how the set's bar serves as an actual bar to the audience during the interval. I had no idea what to expect but the cast, the music and the humour kept me hooked throughout. On the Sunday night we got last minute tickets to Thriller! Live - if you're a fan of Michael Jackson's music then you have to see this. The dancers and lookalikes were amazing!
And of course my favourite thing to do, particularly in London, is eat. I swear I actually just eat my way around the city. Some of the restaurants I'd been to last time - Bumpkin, Tom's Kitchen, The Breakfast Club and Bill's! - but some were new to me. Flesh & Buns was a particular highlight, but more on that later!
