Roadtrip Essentials

We've booked the week off to do a tour of Scotland in our Ford Capri...

Our Capri won't start. Our tour of the country has turned into a couple of nights away in 2 different Scottish cities in a Vauxhall but we're looking forward to it all the same! Road trips are one of my favourite summer past times and I can't wait to admire our beautiful country as we drive through with the windows down, music on and sun rain (it's Scotland!) beating down on us. I am packed and ready to go! But first, let me round up a few essentials...

Sat Nav - Don't waste time getting lost! Also handy for speed cameras, not that we'd ever have to worry about them...

Music - There are only 2 places I ever really sing my heart out - in the kitchen and in the car. Pack your iPod and/or favourite CD's. If you're going for a long drive you'll want a good mix. Our favourites are The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Kings of Leon, Blondie and Fleetwood Mac. Everybody should have Fleetwood Mac on their roadtrip playlist. You can go your own waaaayyy...

Snacks - It's too easy to stop at a garage and grab something cheap and fatty! Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. I usually pack a couple of bananas, Nakd bars and this time I'm taking boiled eggs for my protein fix!

Water - Especially at this time of year when it's pretty damn hot in the car! The more hydrated you are the fresher you'll feel when you reach your destination. I also pack green tea bags as they don't have them at all service stations/greasy roadside cafes - looking at you, The Horn! Just remember to allow time for extra bathroom stops! ;)

Hand Sanitiser - Not all service stations will have soap!

Phone charger - You will get bored and try to refresh Instagram every 5 mintues. Even though you know fine you still have no 3G/Wifi signal. Your battery will die.

Sunglasses - Ever the optimist! Protect your peepers.

Have a great week!

  1. Sounds great - one of the big things I realised when I moved to London for work is just how beautiful Scotland is. I never realised because I took it for granted everyone had mountains for horizons and heather and gorse everywhere!

I'm terrible at packing my own snacks, I'm trying to get better, but definitely seconded on the hand sanitizer, I take it everywhere.
