Sundays at The Adelphi Kitchen, Aberdeen

For Christmas we were given a gift voucher for our favourite Aberdeen restaurant, and it took us this long to use it! It was only valid until the end of this month so we decided to treat ourselves to a little May Day date.

It started (as all good Sundays do) with cocktails! A sloe gin fizz for me anyway, Gordon was driving. We were awkward customers & decided to order between different menus. On a Sunday the Adelphi serves their usual lunch menu as well as a Super Sunday AKarvery. We took starters from the lunch menu...

 Southern fried crispy seafood bucket

Smoked duck nachos.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't order these just for the QUACKamole. (HA!) Both good dishes but Gordon agreed my nachos were the best! The smoky flavours of the duck and house rubbed tortilla chips with the fresh salsa and guac... heaven.

AKarvery with skin on red rooster fries, red slaw and house salad.

Chilli spiced aged mince beef burger.

My burger was off the lunch menu and came with smoked cheddar and south west slaw, which I managed to drip all over the tray and myself! A messy beast of a burger. Gordon went for the carvery. For £17.50 you can choose from a generous selection of 3 dirty cooked or smoked meats and your choice of 3 sides. He had all 3 meats - Blairgowrie chicken, beef and an amazing gammon flavoured with irn bru and jalapenos! Sounds weird, tastes epic! Adelphi can do no wrong in my eyes. Even the basic chicken tasted fantastic. I think Gordon picked weird sides though... I'd of gone for roast veggies and yorkshire pudding!

We debated banana upside down cake for pudding before deciding to be sensible boring and not stuff ourselves til we felt sick. I can't recommend The Adelphi Kitchen enough guys! If you still haven't tried it, get yourself booked in ASAP - it'll change your life!

The Adelphi Kitchen & Chris Hemsworth in the Avengers... I can think of worse ways to spend a Sunday.
