Aberdeen | Everything you need to know about the Lady Boys of Bangkok

This weekend was all about the glitz and glamour as I was invited along to see the Lady Boys of Bangkok with a friend in Aberdeen. Having no idea what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience and ended the evening up on my feet, singing at the top of my lungs with strangers!

[AD] Our tickets were complimentary in exchange for an honest review.

So what is the Lady Boys of Bangkok?

A cabaret show like no other - each of the ridiculously beautiful performers are actually male Thai nationals. Originating at the Edinburgh Fringe fest, The Lady Boys is now in it's 21st year and celebrating proudly with their Greatest Showgirls Tour.

Expect spectacular costumes and all the best diva hits (think Whitney, J.Lo, Kylie, Beyoncé!), with excellent choreography, a splash of comedy and a giant shot of infectious joy! Ending on a high with a classic Scottish finale, you're guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face - unless of course you're allergic to fun.

Will you be dragged up on stage?

There is a little audience participation but it's all in good fun and nothing to worry about - in fact it's a pretty genius way to make you feel part of the show. I'd say they pick on men a bit more but ladies, that doesn't mean you're safe! If you'd prefer not to get up, book a table a bit farther away from the stage.

Is there a bar?

Yes! When you first arrive you'll have access to the foyer before being seated at your table. Here you'll find a well stocked bar, a Thai street food stall serving authentic dishes like panang curry (the food was a bit expensive in my opinion), a merch stand and some fun photo ops. There's even a cute outdoor seating area that reminded me of the beach bars in Ko Lanta!

There's a bar in the main performance area too. In an effort to reduce plastic waste you'll be charged a £2 deposit for a reusable glass with your first drink - you can choose to keep it as a souvenir or return it in exchange for your deposit at the end of the show.

Who is The Lady Boys show for?

Both men and women will enjoy the show! However due to the nature of the performance it is strictly over 18's only. (It can be a little risqué, but never crude!)
