Staying about an hour outside of Aberdeen, we often find ourselves booking a hotel when we plan a big night out in the Granite City. There's nothing worse than having to cut your night short to catch the last bus home and with taxis to Peterhead costing at least £40-£50, it makes sense to check into a luxurious hotel instead. If that hotel also has a relaxing spa, why waste an opportunity?
Over the years we've stayed in quite a few rooms around the city - some fabulous, some not so great - and I wanted to share a few of our favourites with you. If you're planning a trip to Aberdeen any time soon, I hope this helps!

The Park Inn by Radisson
With it's location on Justice Mill Lane, the Park Inn by Radisson is perfect for a night out. Just along the road you have some of Aberdeen's best cocktails bars with Orchid, Soul, Dusk and the Spiritualist being literally a stone's throw away. Not to mention the fabulous Café Harmony if you fancy a nice meal too!
Rooms are bright, spacious and reasonably priced. We pay around £50-£60 for a double room here and it's our go to city centre hotel, thanks to the affordable price and handy parking next door. They do have a bar and restaurant but we've never used them - we'd rather spend our money at the independent businesses in the area.
Best for: Nights out

The Sandman Signature Hotel
Aberdeen's newest hotel, The Sandman, brings a little Canadian hospitality to the city and has fairly made an impact with it's impeccably stylish foyer! I went along to their launch event for a wee tour and stayed there recently - I can confirm the rooms are just as stylish, and the beds are incredibly comfy.
It's the kind of place you check into and never want to leave. Hang out under the stunning umbrellas, tuck into some tasty food at Chop (the in house restaurant) or enjoy a dram by the fire in the Freedom & Whisky bar. Rooms start from £59.

Malmaison Aberdeen
Prices at Malmaison Aberdeen average roughly £99 per night for a double room but you can sometimes get a bargain, if you're lucky! The Malmaison hotel chain are known for their quirky design and vibrant Malchemy cocktail bars, and this one is no different.
With classic Scottish details in muted tones, it's a destination hotel and one we've stayed at a few times over the years. I've never used the spa myself, but hear good things. However I can whole heartedly recommend the Brasserie where we've enjoyed many a birthday dinner and hangover curing breakfasts.

The Village Urban Resort
A little out of town, the Village hotel is great for a staycation. It's popular for it's spa and pool facilities, is home to two restaurants and even has it's very own Starbucks inside! My favourite thing about the Village is actually the gym, which has literally every piece of equipment you could ever need.
Rooms at the Village are modern and comfortable, starting from as little as £49 per night. They often have spa deals on which are worth looking out for. The current one includes an overnight stay for 2 with dinner, fizz and a treatment each for £89!

Mercure Ardoe House Hotel and Spa
We were lucky enough to be invited to stay at Ardoe House a couple of years ago - and we loved it! If you've ever wanted to stay in a castle, this Victorian mansion is the hotel for you. Situated in the stunning countryside of South Deeside, it features a gym, pool and spa facilities, and even a tennis court! I enjoyed my first ever hot stone massage at Ardoe's spa.
Dinner is served either in Soapie's Brasserie or Blair's restaurant, you can enjoy afternoon tea in the Drawing Room or sample a local dram in the Whisky Bar. I'd recommend Ardoe House if you're celebrating a birthday or anniversary, or just treating someone special!
